ROLE: DIRECTOR/WRITER/PRODUCER
June 2022

In the fall semester of 2021 with the assistance of the Film and Media Studies department, I revived the St. Olaf Film Production Society and assumed the role of President of the club. When the club was first started decades ago, students used it mostly to come together and watch films together. With the club dying out and given the opportunity to reimagine it plus with the addition of Film and Media Studies becoming an official major at the college I saw this as an opportunity to shift the focus to actually making films.

I worked with college administrators to secure funding and equipment to begin making projects. In January I would write a screenplay Icarus. After deliberation we green lit Icarus to be our inaugural project.

Icarus is a story about two college students attempting to navigate the ups and downs of a romantic relationship, experiencing miscommunication, heartbreak, and what may be love. Angelo (Giovanni Green) and Gianna (Sarafina Rule) caught each other's attention one day at the gym. The rest is history, until it isn't. Confusion and disconnect fuel a heated breakup brought on by the complicated social climate that is college. Yet, even when all seems to be said and done, feelings still... remain?

Icarus was my directorial debut.
